That's right, fellow skippers. Clear your calendars for Saturday, September 8th, so we can get in one more local run together before reconvening in San Francisco at the end of the month.
Reminder notice: SubRonLA will be running at the usual time and spot this Saturday, the 8th. I may still not have a boat ready to run myself, but I’m trying, and plan to be there regardless.
Message received.
My plan is to be there.
I am proceeding with battery charging and equipment preparation.
(I am still not 100% recovered from the bug bits. Turn out to be a total of 3 at different times)
What a roller coaster it has been so far.
It is now Friday, the day before.
Just finished my check list.
All batteries charge.
Boats ready and in transportation boxes.
Tx(s) in their cases and next to the boats.
Chair has been cleaned and set next to steps on front porch.
Tools have been collected from shop and place on top of boat boat.
Alarm clock set.
Gas up truck this afternoon.
Only thing to do is make sure I have everything that goes in the lunch cooler.
Great seeing so many of you at the pond yesterday—even Shuzo and Jon Lim showed up this time. It was a good turnout, and fun, but I must say I’m looking forward to not attending boatless at the upcoming San Francisco run on the 22nd and 23rd. (Hope to see you there. A once-again-operational Blueback should accompany me by then!)
Highlights yesterday included long, loving looks at the giant, gorgeous new Engel Type VII Mike Dory brought along; this Oudmayer/Dory build is well underway but not quite yet ready to run. (Sound familiar?) Also fun was meeting Tom Chalfant’s friends Ed and John, who joined us for much of the day. They’ve obviously taken quite a shine to the boats and promised to return; Ed was even talking about soon acquiring a submarine surface runner....
I made a point of walking around and talking to most everyone about their boats. I’m sparing the details here because I plan to write up our run yesterday for a proper submission to the FOX Schedule column in the next SCR. I’ve been quite derelict in my duties along those lines in recent months.
Enough for now; time to start a new forum thread announcing the date for our next squadron run, coming up in October...
I’ll try to attach a few photos from yesterday here. No promises: I’ve had trouble with this in the past, especially with iPhone photos coming in sideways...
