Next SubRonLA Meet to take place Saturday, March 10

    Hi guys!

Just making it official by posting notice in this space. Hope to see all SubRonLA captains on hand at our usual time and place, just as we had last week. Email reminders shall be sent later as usual. Perhaps we can get some out-of-towners to join us this time? If not then, then perhaps for our two-day run this summer—info. on which I'm about to post separately.

    Mark those calendars, guys!

    Green Board,

    Hi guys!

Just a reminder of our sub run at the usual place and time next Saturday. Looking now like I’ll be boatless that day, but am hoping for a little stick time on Will’s boat(s)—more piston practice for the soon-forthcoming Nautilus. See you there!

    Green board,
    Jeff

Boat or no boat is becoming my new motto.
      I will be there.
      Maybe Skipjack.
Akula II coming to be checked out by a more qualified electronics person.
Me and electronics is a no go.

Skipjack coming out of refit on the Ballast Safety Tank.

        Sea Trials just completed.
Trimming required an additional weight about 4.5" forward of the rudder.

No water was abserved in the cylinder.

        Boat is ready to go....again.

          Fellow SubRonLA Skippers,

As of right now, I expect to see at least some of you at our usual spot at the pond tomorrow — if it’s not raining, that is. If it IS raining, however, I am officially deeming this run a washout and we shall postpone it to a later date. That being the case, I’ll eventually poll you all for near-future dates which might work for rescheduling...

See you soon, one way or the other,
          Jeff

Well, I am committed to the venture.
I charged boat and radio batteries. ;^)

Despite a generally low turnout and poor weather, those of us still showing up for yesterday’s SubRonLA run (Ralph, Will, Mike and myself) had a good time regardless and did manage to get some boats in the water. Will graciously permitted me some much-needed additional piston practice time with one of his boats, and he and Ralph spent a good amount of time dealing with engineering issues with Ralph’s new Engel Akula. Eventually temperatures dropped while drizzle increased so we bagged the rest of the day and headed our separate ways. It still felt good to get together though, as always.

As for next time, Will has suggested May 26 as being clear for him, but I defer to Steve Neill and Tom Chalfant to confirm this date or pick alternatives since they regularly travel the farthest to join us. I’m also okay with an April run (instead of or in addition to May) since yesterday was something of a washout, should people want to get together sooner. Just let me know your thoughts and preferences, guys, and we’ll get a hard date scheduled within a couple of weeks. Meantime, if anyone has a personal e-address for Darrin, I’d appreciate your sharing it, because his work address is bouncing back at the moment.

              Thank you all,
              Jeff
