David, look at your calendar and go out every two months on the second weekend and see which one you prefer.
Suggest it and it may just happen.

      Update.
That little fall I took, fractured the upper bone in my lower right arm.
      Healing is going well.
I have done this before and knew what to do.
It was a few years back when I did it. (1963)

A reminder, gents, that our next regular squadron run at our usual spot takes place next Saturday, the 14th. I plan to attend, but this time will likely not be able to get there first. Hope one of you (Mike?) can arrive early enough to grab dibs on our usual tables.

Good luck, good hunting, and see you next weekend!
        JeffP

P.S. Ralph, very glad to hear your arm is on the mend...

Look forward to seeing you. Not sure how many subs I will bring.
Really looking forward to seeing ya'll.
          Peace,
          Tom
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

            Got the message.
As of about 20 minutes ago, my Skipjack completed trimming after a complete overhaul which included changing the original Z cut hull to a centerline cut hull.

Only thing left is to charge batteries.

Thanks for posting the photos, Ralph. Sorry I missed you. By the time I finally arrived (post urgent morning car repair) you and some others had already left—but I still had a great time catching up with Will O. and "Vegas" Tom C. and getting acquainted with newcomer Shuzo before we all closed up shop at the pond around mid-afternoon. It was strange to be there boatless (Seaview is currently dismantled for repairs, and little Blueback's got a major short that just fried her ESC and is now in need of overhaul), but it was still great fun to relax by the pond and visit with my remaining squadronmates. And to Shuzo, newest member of SubRonLA, may I say Welcome Aboard, Sir! We love expanding our ranks! My understanding is that Shuzo was a late arrival yesterday too, but he most impressed us with his scratchbuilt WWI sub and torpedo boat skimmer, which he had cutting the water like nobody's business. Sorry I didn't grab a photo of him or his boats, but will next time.

Speaking of which, what about next time, guys? I'll send around a squadronwide email query, of course, but shall first broach the topic here: what should be our next group run date? November's too soon and I suppose December shall be too busy a holiday month for all of us, so I'm hereby proposing the second Saturday of January, the 13th. Now, I can be outvoted here; I'm happy to gather sometime if December if the crowd wants to go that way. What are your thoughts? Chime in, anyone, with an alternate proposal if you like!

Enough for now. Keep running hot, straight and normal. And watch for coverage of our two-day August Fun Run event in the forthcoming December issue of the SCR.

                JeffP

Learned 2 things at the pond yesterday.

                  1. My Akula II was on the same channel as 1 other boat. (the white boat with the red tail cone cover)
Easy fix. Just make sure who is in the water.
                  2. There has always been a mysterious area at the pond.
Sort of a Bermuda area that causes funny servo reactions and loss of power.
                  Even full throttle reversal.
The mystery is that not all boats are effected.
My boat and the other boat on the same channel would have all these reactions in the same area.
But it looked like the other boats where not having these issues.
Only the 2 boats on channel 70 and maybe one on 68.
If both boats stayed clear of the Bermuda area, we had good runs but not always safe.
We decided to pull our boats from the water and run other boats.

                  My solution . . . .
This morning, I pulled the channel 70 crystal out of the boat's Rx and installed a 74.
I happen to have all channel modules in both my Tx so, I got out the small screw driver to reset the Tx channel from 70 to 74.
The adjustment screw is so small, I can barely see it much less read the numbers.
So with screw driver and bright flashlight in hand, I made the change.
Did a quick bench test to make sure I selected the correct channel on the Tx.
                  All controls respond correctly.

Ready to see what happens the next time at the pond.
