TWO-DAY SubRonLA Fun Run announced for August 12 & 13!

You read that right, fellas! Marathon round-table (or rather picnic-table-in-the-park) discussions yesterday during SubRonLA's most recent Fun Run demonstrated interest all around in holding our first TWO-DAY Run here in Southern California, and it is now officially slated for Saturday and Sunday, August 12 & 13. I shall be sending my usual e-mailed notification of these plans around to all local members, and I'm hoping this will represent sufficient notice particularly for Steve Neill and Tom Chalfant (who regularly travel the farthest to join us) to be able to lock in said dates on their summer calendars.

It is our fervent hope that at least some of our Northern California SubComMI brothers will be interested in driving down to join us at Yorba Regional Park, just as some of us often join them for their annual fall Golden Gate Park two-day event. They shall be informed as well (and yes, Mike Dory and I are indeed currently still planning to join them at their Run in SanFran one month after our own). The nice thing about a two-day event is that one may of course attend either or both days, and thus fairly easily participate while still allowing ample travel time and/or not using up an entire Southern California weekend if other tourism possibilities beckon...

Details and reminders will be forthcoming. Out-of-towners may wish to note that there is a hotel near either end of the park, and at least one (that I know of) family restaurant bordering the west end of the park. Also, our usual running area includes a typical park-type barbecue grill, should any parties be interested, and of course, personal cooking appliances are also permitted if desired. Canopies and tables are usually not necessary for our group, but should we have a huge turnout, they are popular with park patrons as well.

Here's the website for Yorba Regional Park if anyone wants further information to start making plans:

Hope to see a lot of skippers in August!

    Always ready for my closeup,

Currently recovering from 34 days of health issues.
    All is good, now!
    ------------------------
I plan to be there at least one day.
I am hoping to make it both days.
I will know more the closer the date gets.

I am planning to be there for one day (my mother in law's birthday is on the other, I was told I cannot miss it). Look forward to seeing you guys and running a new sub!
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

          Posting to keep this active.
          Just 8 days away.

I have 2 boats ready to go.
Tomorrow, my plan is to charge the LiPo batteries and then charge the NiCa batteries Thursday.

            Report #1 on first day.

            20 subs or so.
6 plus surface boats from 10" long to what I think was 5' or 6' long.
A big luxury yacht as well.

            Water was still clear.
Will had he weed rake with him and clears a few out.

Several boats where facing attacks from the killer minnows.
A monster of two showed up. 12" plus long.

First we ever had a channel conflict.
            2 boats on same channel.

Day started of with overcast and cool.
            Then the sun came out.
About noon a light wind came up.

            Will see what happened tomorrow.

                  Hey there Jeff,
Mark Jones and I had a great trip down to your event and we had a blast, the water at Yorba Park was so clear it was like glass it defiantly worth the trip. We look forward to your next event.
Ralph it was great to meeting you there. Hope to see you at the Fun Run in September 16th & 17th in San Francisco.
