    May 20th Fun run

Another Beautiful day at our pond. Attendance was down due to folks having other commitments, but the spirits were high and the weather was just right. The weed monster attempted to keep a couple of our boats, but failed. Everyone brought something to eat or drink, Don May performed the head chef duties with Greg's propane torch to get the fire started. Robert brought his beautiful targets all the way from Syracuse to run with us and was really interested in seeing the subs run. He has an Engel Patrick Henry kit that he wants to build. Bruce brought his Seaview and Type XXI Uboat.

Thanks for posting the pictures Don (even tho I know Patty took them, Thanks Patty) unfortunately my video didn't show anything but I know that I enjoyed myself and even ran some subs for a change. Also the rescue boat was not needed so it stayed ashore and watched all of the traffic. I counted 5 subs running at one time with a couple of targets out there too.

Patty, those pics should make Chris happy once he gets back. Great job as usual.

Looks like a great time. The water is amazing.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Thanks for posting the pics, truly enjoyed myself ,had a great lunch, also a great testing day and yes the Seaview was completely full of weeds. It is always great to get together with friends and float our boats.
              Thanks again.

              Later Bruce

Glad to see it was such a nice day at the pond! Greg - good to see you got the Mike sub going!

As mentioned, I could not make it since I was up in Maine at a run of the Maine Forest and Logging Museums' big steam engine, a Lombard Log Hauler, which is sort of like a submarine... It has a pressure hull (okay, pressure is on the inside not the outside), an engine plant running on steam (2 cylinders rather than a turbine), and a sound transducer (okay, its a whistle). Other than that, just like a submarine! I had gone up to see it, and spend time taking tons of pictures and measurements for the live steam model I am building.

For those who have never heard of one, which is most people, these are the first commercially produced continuously tracked vehicles, invented in 1900, and they look like a locomotive got friendly with a bulldozer.

Here is a video of it running, when I got a chance to steer for a lap:

Finally a picture of the weed monster attacking the seaview. Fortunately Bruce was able to beat the monster back with a long pole. ( you need to be able to electrify the hull Bruce)

I tried, but I only had the steering wheel, not the throttle!!
