Reminder: SubRonLA run next Saturday, March 25th

This is a verbatim repeat of the e-mail I just sent to all SubRonLA members:

Just a reminder to all good Southern California sub skippers that the next SubRonLA meet will take place at the usual pond and time, next Saturday the 25th.

Three items of note:

1) Will O. reports that Lois Osborg, widow of the late Jack Osborg (frequent attendee/participant at the annual San Francisco fall Fun Runs back in the day, or so I'm told) will be on hand pondside at our event to sell off a lot of Jack's old sub kits and supplies at great deals, so be sure to bring some extra cash if you're at all interested.

2) I myself likely won't be in attendance this time; I've been ill of late and have to be ready and feeling better for a big cross-country family visit soon afterward. If I do manage to show, my attendance will be brief -- and mostly interested in getting you pirates and cutthroats to agree on the date of our next meet sometime in May. If I'm ultimately NOT around on Saturday, I'm counting on you guys to please decide said date among yourselves and let me know.

3) For those of you who haven't already heard, our very good friend / fellow modeler / parts, advice and good fellowship supplier on the East Coast, 8-Ball Chapter Commodore "Big Dave" Welch, passed away last night. Check the SC forum for the latest info. on this heartbreaking development, any forthcoming memorial plans, etc. This is indeed a very sad day.

Calling all SubRonLA skippers,

Since it's unfortunately looking like participation in this Saturday's run in Yorba Regional Park may be fairly light (with threatening weather predicted to boot), there is already talk around the squadron about the date of our NEXT Fun Run...sooner than usual just in case this Saturday is a washout.

Being floated at the moment is...

Saturday, April 22.

That works for me. How does it sit with everyone else?

If too soon for some of you, May 20 and June 10 have been proposed as alternates. Weigh in with your yeas or nays -- or discuss it Saturday in person if need be -- but it would be nice to get a date scheduled pretty quickly.

As long as I get enough notice of any gathering date, I can fit in to my schedule.

As far as future dates, I could live with once every four to six weeks.
Every other month allows me to forget and schedule doing something else causing a conflict.

I missed the last gathering do to a sever bought with the flue.
I will be going down this Saturday, rain or shine.
Mostly just to get away from the house for a while.

Just e-mailed the following date update to everyone:

Greetings Guys,

Weather for tomorrow's run is looking a lot more promising; those in attendance should now be assured of some good patrolling. Unfortunately, I will not be on hand (still fighting a lung infection, plus my car's down and I'm also prepping for a big trip). Hope anyone and everyone who makes it has a great time.

As for our NEXT run, the majority rules, and the scales have now tipped in favor of...

SATURDAY, APRIL 15th

...this having moved up from the proposed 22nd. This date has now been cleared as good with Will, Mike, Steve, Neil S., Tom C. from Vegas and myself, so that's when we'll meet next. Farlan, I hope you'll be able to adjust by a week and join us too. Haven't heard from any others, so am simply hoping it works for them as well.

I can make the April 15th day.

We should have lots of spectators as this is the day before Easter and I would expect lots of kids picnicking with they parents.
