    2020 Subcommittee Elections.

    Fellow members,

The Election Committee announces that per article 6 of the Articles of Incorporation for the SubCommittee an election for the Offices of President, Vice President/Secretary, and Treasurer of The Subcommittee will be held later this year. Officers will hold office for a three-year term, starting January 1, 2021.

The following is a brief description of the roles of the officers:

    · President – is the Chairperson of the Executive Committee and the executive for the administration of The SubCommittee, subject to the direction of the Executive Committee.
    · Vice President –shall be responsible for keeping the records of The SubCommittee, including the Polies and Procedures Manual (PPM). If necessary, the Vice President/Secretary may act as the President of The SubCommittee if the President is unable to perform that office.
    · Treasurer - has charge and custody of all of the funds of The SubCommittee, as directed by the Executive Committee and the PPM. The Treasurer shall establish and follow good accounting and expenditure controls and shall make full disclosure of all financial dealings of The SubCommittee.

The Election Committee, per its charter in article 7.3, is now soliciting Candidates for Office. The Election Committee is responsible for nominating candidates for election to the offices

If you or someone you know would like to be considered in being a Candidate for one of the three Offices, please contact the Chairman of the Election Committee – Bruce Martin. Bruce can be reached by e-mail at silentservice1940@cogeco.ca.

The Election Committee will consider and evaluate potential nominations until July 1, 2020.

All Candidates for Office are expected to be members in good standing with The SubCommittee and have demonstrated strong support in the goals of the organization. All persons elected to Office are expected to remain in good standing for the duration of their term in office.

Ideally, each member who wishes to run for Office will have access to the Internet as that is a principle means for the officers to communicate and transact SubCommittee business. Candidates are also required to submit a short write-up that describes who they are, their qualifications, and why they are running for office. These writes-up must be submitted and received by the Election Committee no later than August 1, 2020 in order that they can be published in the September 2020 issue of the SubCommittee REPORT.

The election will be held via electronic ballot to an e-mail address to be provided at a later date.

All who wish to have their vote count in this election must (a) be a member in good standing for the 2020 membership year, and (b) have their ballot received before December 30, 2020.
