This is an amazing opportunity to own a little piece of movie history! The seller of this amazing movie prop emailed me in hopes of selling this piece to someone who would enjoy it more than he currently can.
Here is what he wrote to me:
I am offering the submarine that was used in the films Indiana Jones (Raiders) and 1941. This is a 26' model that was built for the film Raiders of the Lost Ark and then used in the background for the 1941 movie. This is about 1000 lbs. and has it's own cradle for rolling. I am trying to sell this beast and move this on to someone that can enjoy it better than me, for now it just sits and takes up space.
The hull is hollow and the body is made of wood. As far as I can tell by the reports I have heard and the movie that this was in the water at one time. There are little holes along the side of the sub but empty on the inside. The model is about 1000 lbs. heavy and it has a rolling carrier for it. The outside seems to have an epoxy coating, fairly heavy, but seems durable.
