Rann wants SA to host sub design centre

The design centre for Australia's next generation submarines should be housed in Adelaide, South Australian Premier Mike Rann says.
Mr Rann has made a pitch to the federal government for Adelaide to secure the design centre, with a decision to be announced early next year.
The premier spent two days in Canberra last week lobbying to win the design centre, expected to create between 400 and 600 jobs.
"Over the next decade, the submarine design centre will be charged with the massive undertaking of planning the biggest and most complex non-nuclear submarines ever built anywhere in the world," Mr Rann said on Monday in a statement.
