The Nerpa shipyard in Murmansk Oblast is about to complete the reconstruction of the historical K-19 submarine. The sub, which experienced several major crisis and accidents, will become museum outside Moscow.
According to the Nerpa plant, the museum version of the K-19 will have several facilities among them a presentation hall.

The reconstruction of the vessel is financed over a fund for the first sailors of the K-19. The construction works are headed by Mr. Aleksandr Kaplan, who himself has long experiences from repairing the crisis-ridden vessel.

The K-19 was called the "Hiroshima" because of the accidents and technical problems experienced. A least 36 sailors died in the accidents, among which was a major leak in the reactor coolant system, a fire and a collision with the "USS Gato".
