Navy to retire 23-year-old sub on Friday

NORFOLK -- The U.S. Navy will retire the USS Minneapolis-St. Paul on Friday at a ceremony in Norfolk.
The nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine is being deactivated after 23 years of service. It has made 12 deployments since its commissioning, and it recently returned from its final deployment -- a six-month trip to the North Atlantic.
The 10 a.m. ceremony at Naval Station Norfolk is not open to the public.
