Updated, ballast tank photos of Jeff J's type II

    Hey guys,
Here are a few photos showing how I built the large 12 volt 7 amp batt. into the narrow type II hull in 1/32nd scale. Basically there is a large copper propel pipe that sticks up in front of the fwd and aft bulkheads of the ballast tank area and runs under the batt. down in the bottom of the keel. I made an aluminum shelf for the batt. to sit in, with vel-crow that runs all the way around it to help secure the battery. I have to use a tire valve extension to fill this thing, because the fill valve sits below the lid, which the vent valve is mounted to, and the main battery on and off switch. So far I have never ran this battery out while running the sub. Its on direct drive with 6 volt motors. One disatvantage to this set up is the number of screws that hold the top on, they have to be removed to fill the propel reserve, however , with the size of the copper tube I have installed I can run it all day without having to refill it, sorry, I don't know the # of blows I can get off hand, but at the 05 regatta I ran it both days without re-filling it. The entire area around the battery is the ballast tank, the batt. sits in water when the tank is flooded. Hope this is clear for you guys to follow. Not the best way to build a sub, but hey,,,, it works!! . thanks Jeff Jones SC#258
