Folks,
I received the following e-mail from a representative from the Baltimore & Chesapeake Steamboat Company ( a non-profit history preservation group) who is looking to speak with someone who can build them a model of the WW1 German U-boat Deutschland. If anyone is interested, please contact Walt directly.
-many thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,
Greetings from the shores of Marley Creek near beautiful downtown Glen Burnie.
My reason for contacting you is that there will be a celebration of the Tug BALTIMORE'S 100 birthday on October 21-22, 2006 at the Naval Reserve Center at Fort McHenry.
In 1916 BALTIMORE assisted the German Cargo Submarine DEUTSCHLAND in and out of port twice as the latter had eluded the British blockade and during these runs became the first submarine to actually across the Atlantic Ocean.
We wish you to consider visiting our web site at]http://www.steamtug.org[/url] . In the artists section you will will find a scale model of the BALTIMORE. To what scale I know not but I'd like to ask if it would be possible to construct a model of the DEUTSCHLAND to match it (in the same scale) perhaps and have the two vessels together again for the first time in ninety years? This might even be a reason to contact the German Embassy in DC to see if they could also bring a display of DEUTSCHLAND artifacts in for a display. The Naval Reserve Center occupies the same grounds where in 1869 the North German Lloyd ocean liner named BALTIMORE made the first trip to Baltimore from Bremen thus creating what would later become known as the Ellis Island of the South.
Best Regards,
Walt Mathers
