Cajus Bekker is actually the pen name for H. D. (Hans Dieter) Berenbrok who served on the German navy’s General Staff during World War II. After the end of the war he talked with higher ranking German officers and obtained lists of German naval, air force and K-Verbande members (midget subs, manned torpedoes and frogmen). From these veterans he obtained accurate of accounts of "what it was like to actually be there."
