Hi. Diving Bill here. After I sell my 12ft long, two person, torpedo shaped, mini wet sub from the 1966 movie "Destination Inner Space" I am going to start construction on a 15ft long, 1/2 inch thick kevlar, 2ft in diameter kevlar helicopter drop wing tank that looks almost exactly like my movie sub right down to the built in horizontal stabilizer at the rear. I have a source that bought 100 of them from the govt and has 40 of them left. Sub building assembly line anyone? I can get tanks for you if you need them.
That is 3 ft longer than my existing
sub. That 1/2 inch kevlar is much stronger and better to take a hit
underwater than my 1/8 inch thick fiberglass movie sub can. When I saw the kevlar wing tanks it
really interested me because my movie sub is a bit cramped for my 6 ft body.
The propulsion system will include a small diesel engine in a water
proof compartment for surface crusing and an electric trolling motor for
underwater propulsion. Since I am in the Florida Aviation Historical Society
I will be using the new sub to search for WW2 aircraft wreckage that has
been lost in the ocean and lakes in my area. We have already done a side
scan sonar search to locate a Curtis P40 warhawk's wreckage in Clearwater
bay. The nice thing about the wing tank is it is almost exactly the same
shape as my movie sub, even has a rear built in horizontal fin.
I intend to build a shark and gator cage that will hinge and fit over both
riders heads and shoulders like an aircraft canopy and protect me and my
passenger in either salt or fresh water from sharks and gators. One lake we
were searching that had two P51 mustangs in it that collided into each other
and crashed into the lake in 1943 doing a bomb practice run had 2,700 gators
in it according to the game warden! I'll try to post here when I get mine constructed. Wish there was a way to post photos here.
