    Like fish in a barrel.....

It's amazing what one can do with an LA Class w/VLS (FLT II) and a land mass even in realism mode!

USS KEY WEST SSN-722 was tasked with eliminating a Soviet resupply convoy on a disputed island

All I did was was sit on the far side, launch a MOSS (MObile Submarine Simulator, the yellow fish) off to the southeast to distract the escorts.
Then wiped the 4 of them out, UGRA(S8) KARA(S11) GRISHIN (S12) and UDALOY (S13), with MK48 ADCAPs steered around the disputed island.
Need to watch your depth as you launch the fish, the will run aground as they "Run to Enable", and you need to steer them past the shallow water point before turning to the targets.
Set shallow, they'll come up after they "Enable" as I was engaging Surface Craft.

Here you see MK48's launched from tubes 3, 2, then 1. All three still have the wire. Weapon from Tube 3 has not only "Enabled" but acquired a target since the sonar "detection cone" is red.
It actually has S13 the UDALOY which was a lot closer than FC's solution.

Weapon from Tube 2 is still under wire guidance as I would lose the number (2) and it would turn yellow if I had. She enabled about 1kyds later and I eventually got S12 the GRISHA

The Weapon from Tube 1 had just performed own ship clearance maneuvers and is also "Running to Enable", the waypoint you see 2.8kyds from own ship. It is the currently selected weapon under control and I can move that Enable point anywhere I desire and the fish will steer towards it. When it nears that point, I moved that point in a way that eventually steered it towards S11 the KARA which appears on land but was actually close to the south shore of the prominence.
This was a range error from the TMA conducted by the Fire Control Tracking Party. I did score the kill.

If the weapon has enabled, and you have a wire, acquired or not you can still steer it using the keypad. This way if it acquires something you don't want (Decoys, Merchants, your MOSS or even yourself!) you can steer it away.

Yes I managed to surprise them enough no ASW Helicopters were launched, but a BEAR in the air did provide a torpedo evasion event.

After all combatants were done, the supply fleet was eliminated with TASM's from the VLS

12/13. A Supply vessel who was way south of the screen and managed to bug out.

I know this may not be the "cup of tea" for most of you, but it's a hell of a lot of fun and fit's that niche while waiting years for a good sub movie.

Watching an opponent sink after what amounts to an exhilarating underwater knife fight like this VICTOR I really does give you a sense of accomplishment...granted not as much as returning from the pond with your "pride and Joy" in it's cradle!

    But almost.

Here's another online player whose campaign I'm following that just started this week, it's like watching a movie that teaches me tactics.
He also plays Silent Hunter III for you DBF crowd, the realism and detail of that game blows me away! As a QM I love seeing his tactical plot on the chart!!
An amazing player who makes it VERY entertaining, like a movie.

NEVER underestimate the power of a Sailor who served aboard a submarine.
