Submarine veterans visiting kids in hospital

I was wearing my USS ILLINOIS hat at Barnes and Noble Tuesday when I ran into a guy wearing a Submarine Veterans hat and we started talking about subs. He is a member of the United States Submarine Veterans Inc. and a group of them visit the children's ward at the St. Francis hospital in Peoria, IL on Wednesday morning at 9 am. Up to a dozen former bubbleheads talk to the kids, give out submarine hats and pictures, and try to brighten their day.
My salute to these veterans for their efforts.
I have to get all kinds of clearances to join their group in the kids ward(very high security there)but it sounds great to give back a little. I sent 20 sub pics up for them to give out Wednesday morning, mostly of the model subs at Carmel this year. The hospital gal was impressed that we do r/c subs. Since we are always looking to expand our hobby by adding new members, maybe we could each check and see if other sub vets are visiting kids and try to get included in their rounds.
I will post some pics as soon as I get cleared to visit...

    Some from this bunch, maybe?
