If you haven't been watching the History Channel the last couple of nights, you have really been missing something.
The brand new "WWII in HD" is amazing. It's all in original color (not colorized) and not the same old thing that Monte Markham used to narrate with some WWII color. A lot of this is new, never been seen on TV stuff and narrated by Gary Sinise. And yes, there is submarine footage. It isn't all rah rah, hooray for us and it shows not every battle was a victory, but in my opinion, it's way better than the Ken Burns thing.
It is on for the next few nights and they have been playing earlier episodes before the new one starts. Check your TV guide for time and channel!
