Does anyone know if Gatos could radio transmit voice?
M<y research is murky. Gatos (along with surface ships) seemed to use the 800lb TBL transmitter, but voice was optional with a separate CRV synthesiser used on surface ships. I read they upgraded in late 44/early 45 so they could listen to aircraft for rescues, but it's just not clear if they had voice transmit capability before that upgrade (or even if the upgrade was listen only).
